Sorry about the lack of entry yesterday. One thing led to another and suddenly it was 10 p.m. Plus I wanted to let Jim use the computer a bit since he's barely touched it in the past few weeks. So he played a little Jagged Alliance 2 and Half Life and I watched some TV and got caught up on my magazines.

I've decided that Kid Rock must be really short. The two factors leading to this decision are: he hangs out with that "little person" all the time. Besides the weirdness factor I think he's going for, it also serves to make him look taller. Factor number two is that in his latest video "Cowboy", almost every camera shot is from the ground up, which also serves to make him look taller. And in the video, he's never standing next to anyone else (except his little sidekick), so you can't compare his height. Can anyone confirm my suspicions?

I was watching late night TV last night and I just happened upon the final episode of St. Elsewhere. How lucky is that? I used to love that show, and I remember watching the final episode when it originally aired and I haven't seen it since. According to the IMDB, it aired in 1988. There was a lot of humor in the episode that I missed the first time around - references to final episodes of other series, like Mary Tyler Moore, MASH and The Fugitive. And of course that great ending, where it's revealed that the whole series was just a figment of an autistic boy's imagination. So now I'm all fired up to start watching that show again.

Apparently my landlord has sold the house we live in, or is on the verge of selling. I was doing laundry last night and one of the girls who lives upstairs stopped down. She said that the landlord was selling the house and since her lease is up at the end of the month, and the buyer wants to move into her apartment, they are forcing her to move out! She was going to resign the lease for another year on her own - her roommate is moving out - and maybe find someone else to move in. I think that sucks - she only found out about 2 days ago and she'll have to move out in 2 weeks. I told her to check her lease and see if there is any provision, but I'm betting if ownership changes hands, all bets are off. Jim and I are OK because our lease isn't up until next May. There are pros and cons to having the landlord live upstairs. Con would be, of course, that the landlord lives upstairs. But we don't have like wild parties, so that's not a big deal. Pros are that hopefully if he lives on premises he will make some sorely needed improvements and clean the place up a bit. I'm also hoping he gets another meter put on the power. Right now, we split the utility bills in half. Even though I don't feel we are getting ripped off, I just would feel better about knowing for sure that we are only paying for what we use.

I'm wondering if and when our landlord was going to tell us about this? It's not that big of a surprise as when we moved in, there was a sign on the door that said, For Sale or Rent. It's just kind of sudden.

MagLog is an interesting concept, and similar to Wing Chun's Mediator column on Fametracker. (Thanks to Brig for the link)

I don't see why this is such a big deal. First of all, people rarely FTP from their browser these days, do they? And second, are a lot of hackers walking around looking at people's screens over their shoulder? If so, couldn't they just watch you type in your password and get it that way?

One advantage to McDonalds in having robots take orders: robots won't give free food to their friends.

Should "deep linking" be illegal? I don't think so. And I think the businesses who complain are awfully short sighted. Instead of complaining about how you're losing ad revenue, why not redesign your site so that you're gaining revenue? And if you're Ticketmaster - you're still gouging us on fees so shut up.
