As mentioned yesterday to someone on my notify list, I need to get over my obsession with purple. Someone else asked me why I always do some crazy graphic thing to the picture, instead of just leaving it plain. Well, because it's fun to do. And also because my camera doesn't have good resolution (it was cheap!) and so the unadorned photos are pretty dark and grainy.

Happy Friday, everyone!

I got my Valerian yesterday and it stinks! I opened the package and set the bottle on my desk, but hadn't opened the bottle yet. My cats kept coming over and sniffing the bottle, but I figured it was just new. Then Jim got home and opened it to see what the pills looked like and they stink! They smell sort of herbal I guess.

So I took one (it says to take one or two an hour before bedtime) about 10:30. I was kind of tired, but I was watching Rosanne until about 12:30. Then I made the mistake of drinking a Pepsi, and I think the caffeine counteracted the Valerian. Then I started watching "Dazed and Confused" at 2 and ended up staying up until 4. Oops. I don't know why - I've seen that movie about 5 times. I like it, but did I need to watch it again? Especially since it was on USA so it was heavily edited. Instead of trying to work around the pot smoking scenes (of which there are many), they just edit the whole scene out. I think the movie was about half as long as usual. And yet, I watched.

It was interesting to me how many people in that film have gone on to do a lot, and yet how many have gone on to do a lot of nothing. The "a lot" group includes Ben Affleck, Matthew McConaghey, Joey Lauren Adams, Parker Posey, Adam Goldberg and Renee Zellweger. The "a lot of nothing" group includes: Jason London, Rory Cochrane and Wiley Wiggins. It bugged me that I recognized the girl who played Kaye (one of the seniors) but could not place her. I just looked her up on IMDB, and she play(ed) Mark Greene's wife, Jen, on ER. I love the Internet Movie Database.

I just got back from lunch with Ter and Stimp. It was funny because all three of us are total slackers over the summer. We have work to do (me: web stuff, them: band stuff) but nothing too pressing. It was noon and all three of us were sitting there yawning. Our conversation was pretty boring. Terry was actually pretty animated, but that's Ter. He has some sort of on/off switch - he's either totally on, or asleep. There's no in between.

I also got a little bit sucked into a Psychic Network infomercial last night. I was watching it, and it takes place in a bookstore, and I'm thinking, "That looks like a Borders!". Sure enough, it was. I wonder why they let them film there? Did they get paid? They did get mentioned, so it could have been a promotional thing, but is it good PR to get mentioned on the Psychic Network infomercial? I guess that is not my decision to make anymore. It was the store in Plantation, Florida, I believe. Store #222, for those of you playing the home game.

Have a good weekend! I'm outta here.

I think it's great that Artisan actually compensated the makers of Blair Witch, although other studios do not.

Dave Navarro needs to be in a few more bands.

It's nice that some designers are finally recognizing that not all undergarments are suitable for sports or other activities.

I would feel better about granting the govt more rights in the online arena if I felt more confident that the govt had a clue about computers. Maybe they should ask Al Gore, since he invented the Internet and all.

Jim and I have been thinking about buying a cheap PC and installing Linux, and then using that for non-Internet enabled apps. If more games come with Linux support, that would be cool.

A New York Post gossip columnist speculates that Prince Charles is not Prince Harry's father.

People keep making bad Stephen King adaptations for television. This time around, it's Spielberg.

TVUltra lists the one show on TV each day that you should not miss. Especially useful if you, like Mary, have digital cable.
