I don't know why I always take pictures of my eyes. I know I definitely like thme better than my nose or mouth, I guess. My eyebrows are really not that bushy either - the blurring I did to the image made that happen. I also didn't have balck eyeliner on. Oh well.

So last night, Jim and Justin went over to Jim's parents' house and picked up our new entertainment center. When we bought our new TV last December, we needed a new place to put it. Our old TV was 19 inches, and the new one is, I think, 32. So the old Wal-Mart $20 stand wasn't going to cut it for long.

Jim's dad said he would make us a new entertainment center if we paid for the wood. So we finally decided on a style we liked (the armoire style) and took all the measurements, and bought the wood. Then Jim's dad hurt his arm and couldn't do any lifting or woodworking for a while, so things were delayed a bit. He finished the first part a few weeks ago and after some stain and varnish, it was ready to go.

Jim and Justin picked it up in Justin's truck and brought it into the house with no problem. This was exciting news, because we live in an old house with narrow doorways, and we often have a problem getting large objects (like our couch) in and out. They got it into place and put the TV in. Jim hooked everything up (well, almost everything - he didn't do the stereo and stuff yet, but the VCR and Playstation are hooked up).

We almost ran into a big problem with the drawers. The first one went in OK, but the second one wasn't working so good. By this time, we were hot and sweaty and tired from all of the lifting and moving. So Jim and I tried to kind of force the drawer in, which is never a good idea. It got stuck halfway and we couldn't move it. We left it for a while and then later Jim tried again and managed to fix it. So now everything is fully functioning.

Phase II is on the way - there will be a component cabinet to the left that will hold the VCR, receiver and CD player, as well as any future components. It will also have the pocket doors that slide in out of the way.

The best part of the whole thing is that we had this godawful video rack that we got really cheap at Media Play or some such place. I hated it, and I've hated it since the day we bought it. Now we can put our videos in the drawers and we threw it out! Hurray!

I can't believe I just wrote a whole entry about my new entertainment center. Come back tomorrow for the exciting tale of how I got my couch and my kitchen table. Kidding. I'm just kidding.

I found a site where you can find out what homes in your area (or any area) are selling for. It doesn't seem very up to date though.

I don't know where I've been, but I'm enjoying reading Salon's serialized comedy called "Silicon Follies". They're currently on Chapter 46.

Cam passes on the list of books that will never be published, written by some people I know from Borders!

John from Irrelevant Front pointed me to a horrific local website: Ichomp.com. Warning: it crashed my computer!

National Geographic has some pretty cool stuff on their website. Today, I was reading about teen mothers in a section on overpopulation.

Oliver Stone goes into rehab.

Keri Russell cut her hair - see it on Access Hollywood tonight.

See, I could be a TV critic. Ken Tucker at EW likes GvsE too.
