There was some question yesterday about how to pronounce Skaneateles. It's Skinny-atlas. I forget that it's a strange looking word - it's Iroquois, I believe. There are a lot of Native American place names around here: Canandaigua, Gananda, Cheektowaga, Tonawanda. I think they are pretty names, but I forget that they're not always easily pronounced. Also, near my home town, is Chili. No, it's not pronounced like the food - it's Cheye-lye, with long i sounds. And then there's Lima, which is Lye-ma, not Leema. I don't know why. My favorite town name is Retsof. Can anyone figure that one out? I'll try to give a prize if someone answers correctly before Monday.

This is going to be a short one b/c I slept in and Jim and I are going to see Blair Witch Project in a little bit. Mary called me last night from Phoenix and said she and Terry saw it and weren't that impressed. I hope I haven't built it up too much in my mind. But I'm stubborn, so I would have a hard time admitting I don't like it. My expectations are that it will be an independent film, so I don't expect great sound or film quality. But I hope it's spooky. Regardless, they've done a great marketing campaign.

Stimp came over last night to discuss the supergush website. I really need to get cracking on that!

Jim and I are going to my parents' house this weekend because my cousin graduated high school this year and it's her graduation party. I can't believe she graduated - she is the first person who I remember when she was born, and now she's graduating! She was born when I was in 3rd grade, I think.

There are 8 of us cousins on that side of the family. I think Monday's entry will be about my cousins, and my feelings towards growing up with them. I have a picture somewhere but I don't have time to find it right now. So, see you Monday!

It's a bit disconcerting that this article on "Why the Web Sucks" is from 1994, but it's still pretty true. (Thanks, Cam.)

Ha ha! If you use MS Word (or any MS product really) this is funny.

Celebrities protecting their identities online (and no, it's not about Alyssa Milano).

I was watching the coverage of the Atlanta shootings yesterday. Why do I love breaking news so much? If I'm honest, I think it's because I hope that I'll see something I'm not supposed to, that will get edited out later. I'm so very World's Wildest Police Chases.

I know I said no more Woodstock links, but the rape allegations merit one more look.
