Hey, we lost at softball again last night! Woo hoo! The other pitcher was amazing - he was putting all this spin on the ball, and throwing like change-ups and stuff.

The fun part was, after the games were over, everyone felt kind of unsatisfied because it was still early. So we decided to do batting practice, and I was the catcher. That was the most fun part of the night. Everyone was joking around and talking trash. Everyone got to hit between 7 and 10 pitches. I think it was a great idea, because everyone left feeling positive instead of feeling like a big loser. At least that was my take on it.

I had to make 4 web pages last night for my class. They could be on any topic we chose, and for this first assignment we had to have four pages, and they had to link to one another. So I did a lame Homicide fan page, because I couldn't think of anything else. I usually use Dreamweaver 2 to make my pages, but I tell myself I could do it by hand if I needed to. Well, I needed to last night because I was fearful that my professor could tell if I didn't, and he has stated his hatred of HTML editors.

It wouldn't have been so bad, except we couldn't use tables or frames, because we haven't learned those yet. So getting the layout how I wanted it was really hard. I have a lot of sympathy for early web designers now - how annoying! But after some trial and error, I got it done. Here they are, if you want to see them. I know the content sucks but I was more concerned with completing the assignment. Now I have to write a 3 page paper this afternoon - of course, I've known about it for 2 weeks.

I've been joking around with Jim lately, telling him that his friend Justin is like his girlfriend. I don't mean girlfriend in the sense that I'm his girlfriend. I mean, they like to talk on the phone together, sometimes for hours at a time. They make plans to spend time together. I think it's cute, really. I have never seen boys talk on the phone like those two can. Actually, Jim and Eric are champion phone talkers too, but they have to be because Eric lives 7 hours away. Justin lives 15 minutes away. Why not just come over? Of course, Jim could say that same thing about me and Molly.

Speaking of Molly, she and her husband are looking at houses. How cool is that? I am so jealous. They found one they were going to put an offer in on, and it's sold already! The housing market in Syracuse has really picked up recently. There's a house down the street from us that I LOVE and a For Sale sign went up in the front yard two Mondays ago. It's sold. I know in other parts of the country, you are laughing at me for being amazed by that, but in Syracuse that is quite the feat.

New journal discovery: Gracefully

It's interesting how personal websites have evolved from the old "This is me, this is my dog" mode to a more magazine-like model. I guess people have learned that it's one thing to put up a site, and it's another entirely to build a site that other people will want to vist. Content IS king.

Another pretty comprehensive weblog- particularly of interest to me are the book publishing links.

Can you imagine eating macaroni and cheese every day? This person made the sacrifice for science. This is why I love the web.

One thing that bugs me about this whole "websites for women" movement is this: why do we need websites for women? Why not just websites for people? It's kind of like Lifetime: Television for Women, but it really isn't.
